Organization Background

HTOI Gender and Development is one of the local Non-Government Organization based on Kachin State, Myitkyina and have register organization. Which was founded in June 2005, with the goal of “Toward Gender Equality in Kachin State Society” the objective of understand and aware of gender and peace concept to be able to build just-peace society, to empower women in order to do advocacy on the women empowerment, income generation, support humanitarian activities, and develop capacity building and to identify the real situation and update the current issues of the Kachin State community, networking both national and international level. HTOI Gender serves as a change agent for the venerable women and men, widows, marginalize IDPs women and girls in Kachin State.

Vision

Every society in Kachin State, including across Myanmar, embraces and practices a gender equality approach, and both Kachin State and the wider country are developed and able to maintain sustainable peace.

Mission

HTOI Gender is a local CSO/NGO that has been addressing gender equality and gender balance issues in Kachin State and wider Myanmar. To strengthen gender equality in Kachin society and across Myanmar, HTOI Gender intervenes by promoting gender awareness and capacity-building for local communities, public administrators from line departments, civil society organizations, and religious institutions, in order to integrate gender equality concepts and approaches into their interventions and operational processes.
